Brian Leatherwood is an ordained minister and has served in many capacities over a lifetime of Christian service. Along with his wife (Mitzi) and daughter (Isabel), they are striving to serve the Manvel/Rosharon community by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are a Spirit-filled church with lively worship that seeks to glorify God. Our church is comprised of people from various backgrounds and ethnicities who have experienced the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit. House of Refuge was begun in a home in 2016, when God called our pastor to begin a work in Manvel. It is our vision to bring the great news of Jesus Christ to the lost and hurting in our community. To truly become a place of refuge for the soul.
We believe that there is one Lord, one Faith and one Baptism (Ephesians 4:5)
There is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4). He is the Creator of heaven and earth, and all living beings. He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), in the Son (Jesus Christ), and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling of the Spirit).
Deuteronomy 6:4 ; Ephesians 4:4-6 ; Colossians 2:9 ; I Timothy 3:16
We believe the original doctrine that was delivered to the Apostles in the book of Acts.
One baptism refers to baptism by immersion in water, and the Holy Spirit baptism experienced by the first church in Acts, Chapter 2.
We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sin. Water baptism is an essential part of New Testament salvation and not merely a symbolic ritual. Through baptism we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Romans 6:3-6 ; Colossians 2;11-14 ; Acts 2:38 ; John 3:5 ; Galatians 3:27
We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues. Acts 2:4 ; Acts 2:38
We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. God ministers to His people through tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy; words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, healing, helps and government.
Mark 16:15-18 ; Acts 5:16 ; 2 Corinthians 12:1-11
